DavidsTea: Vanilla Matcha

White peach Pottery’s review of DavidsTea’s Vanilla Matcha Tea.

This was another subscription box tea that I first sampled back in November - and I promptly bought a full sized pack. For this review I tried the tea with my Yunomi and whisk as well as all whipped up in a matcha latte... and spoiler: this matcha makes a mean latte, but I didn’t love the tea version.

It comes in a powdered form, which works well for blending with both milk and the whisk.

Aroma/Fragrance: ripe berries, coconut milk, green tea, and vanilla stand out above everything else. Once wet more of the green aromas escape.

Flavor: lightly sweetened with coconut and vanilla, this is a unique tea. When served with milI (as a latte), it’s rich, creamy, and wonderful. It stands out less to me as a classic matcha brew - there’s something slightly bitter on the back end that i cant quite place.

Final Verdict: The latte was like a warm and toasty version of green tea ice cream... You know how it tastes when you bite into a slightly melted ball of mochi surrounding green tea ice cream? This is the hot version of that. Creamy and satsifying! The tea, however, felt lackluster. After the creamy, dessert-like quality of the latte I don’t think I’ll drink it as a tea again.
